Why No Insurance for Psychotherapy is Better
Going to a therapist is radically different than going to your dentist or primary care physician. Psychotherapy is the only profession where a client entrusts their deepest and most vulnerable aspects of themselves and their lives to another professional. Therapists walk beside clients through thick and thin with acceptance and compassion. Real change in the therapeutic process is entirely predicated on the relationship and trust built between client and therapist. Real, lasting affects from therapy take time and flexibility throughout the process. Unfortunately, when an huge corporation is involved with a complex endeavor such as psychotherapy, it becomes case management instead of actual therapy. Studies show that therapy covered by insurance not only compromise the privacy and confidentiality of the relationship, but also does not provide results that are as drastic and long-term as private-pay therapy.

"Working with Matt has been incredibly life changing. I came to Matt in crisis as a lost man, husband, and father in need of guidance and emotional support. He provided a safe space for me to vent my frustrations, grieve my losses, and celebrate my progress while gently challenging thoughts and ideals that were no longer serving my higher self. His approach to therapy is always rooted in kindness, patience, curiosity, and warmth. His interventions were thoughtful, research based, and deeply aligned with my personal growth. Matt empowered me to shine my light again, and I will forever be immensely grateful for the work he and I tackled in therapy together."
